It is the intent of the Blue Gray Alliance to make every effort to support and grow the number of civilian reenactors within our memberships.  Each of the Events hosted by the Blue Gray Alliance will incorporate a local historical town in the event scenarios.  These "towns" will be filled by period civilians under the direction of Robert Orrand, Town Mayor and the oversight of Terre Lawson, Civilian Governess, Blue Gray Alliance.

 PURDY TN CIVILIAN ADJUNCT GUIDELINES

A. Street layouts will be in place when you arrive. Layouts will simulate streets with tent fronts facing tent fronts. If a second street is needed, tents will be back-to-back from the first street. (We do not want a tent having to look at the back of another tent.)

B. The “street” will be wide enough to accommodate vehicle unloading.

C. Streets will be laid out to accommodate 4 tents on either side of the Town Square. We don’t want people to be overcrowded.

D. There will be a representation of the Town Square. This will be the center of activity for the Town. A bell will be mounted for alarms or to gather the Citizens at the Square. The Square will also be the focal point for any engagement with Military units. This may be a fly at some events, at others it may be a post with the bell attached.

E. Please unload your car/truck within 20 minutes and go to reenactor parking. Then come set up your tent.

F. Purdy TN will be closed to traffic at NOON on Friday March30th. If you cannot arrive by the posted time, please camp in the garrison area or carry your gear in. The family garrison area is about 250 yards from town. Vehicles will be allowed to that point until 9 pm Friday. So, the “carry” distance is not that great. No vehicles will be allowed in Town until after the battle and/or final ceremony on Sunday. Please do not try and bring your car into Town before then.

G. Weapons will be allowed on a case-by-case basis, inspected and approved by me, the Mayor. Occupying military may confiscate weapons when seen, so there will not be a lot of chances to fire them.

H. Purdy TN will be a Civilian Town. All reenactors must be in period Civilian clothes when out of their tents throughout the weekend. This includes when spectators have left. Please, no sweatsuits, jeans, etc. outside of the tents. Military uniforms will be on occupying forces, not Citizens.

I. Purdy TN may be part of Military scenarios during the reenactment. As such, there may be military incursions into the camping area. Military commanders will be apprised of tents off-limits to searches before the reenactment.

J. Purdy TN will be under Confederate or Federal control at varying times of the reenactment. Anyone in Military uniform of the non-occupying force will be subject to arrest by the occupying Provost. I, as Mayor in each Town, may be given arrest power by the Provost as well.

K. All modern conveniences need to be out of sight at all times. While we do not pretend to be a hardcore event, many in the Town will wish to see as much period correctness as possible. Please be considerate of your neighbors.

L.  Purdy TN will not have individual fires. Shared fire areas will be placed at the ends of each street. Fire areas will be marked by little white flags. Please only have fires in those marked areas. That means 4 or 6 families will need to share.

M. We encourage participation from Civilians camping in family/garrison areas. We do require visiting participants to adhere to our dress guidelines.
